Earl Pofahl Death – The Sheriff’s Office confirmed the death of a man who lost his life while riding on a bicycle on Tuesday, August 4 after a fatal collision with a pickup truck. The man has been identified as 66-year-old Earl Pofahl of Faribault.

Upon receiving the report of an accident, deputies were dispatched to the Sakatah Trail crossing of Blue Earth County Road 189 east of Madison Lake, says the Sheriff’s office.

According to reports, Earl Pofahl was riding a bicycle  when a pickup truck heading south on County Road 189 collided with his bicycle when he was trying to cross the road heading west.

The authorities identified the driver of the truck as 57-year-old Sean Baggott of Mankato, who was not injured.

Earl Pofahl sustained serious injuries after the collision and was airlifted to the hospital where he later died.
Investigation to determine the cause of the crash is still being handled by the Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol.
