Eunice Castillo-Ross Death – Portland police have confirmed the identity of a woman found dead on Wednesday inside a Southeast Portland home as Eunice Castillo-Ross, 69.

According to the police, Eunice Castillo-Ross was shot to death on June 21st at a home on 138th Drive.

Eric A. Ackerman, a 63-year-old man who shot her, shot himself and later was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Although their relationship was not immediately released.

A police spokeswoman, Lt. Tina Jones said their officers were conducting a welfare check when they noticed someone on the ground and force their way into the home.

Jones said when the officers where in the house, they heard what seems to be action of a firearm, so they withdrew.

Then the Special Emergency Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team where called in and residents within a six-block radius were told to shelter in place.

According to Jones, officers extended a robot inside the house and saw Ackerman injured but alive, after they heard what they believed was a single gunshot.

Ackerman was treated and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, says Jones.
