Wiley Colorado Accident: A terrific motor vehicle accident that happened on Highway 287 at Prowers County Road 196 claimed the lives of four teenagers.
Preliminary investigations into the accident shows that, a Ford Explorer conveying 5 teenagers within the age range of 14-16 years of age was travelling southbound on Highway 287, when it collided into a semi truck travelling northbound.
Three people pronounced dead on scene were identified as the 16-year-old driver, 15-year-old male and a 14-year-old female. A 16-year-old was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.
The fifth passenger identified as a 15-year-old male, sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Colorado Springs. His condition is not known.
The driver of the semi truck identified as a 25-year-old man was transported to the hospital and later discharged. His 50-year-old passenger in the sleeper berth was transferred to the the hospital with critical injuries.
The crash was said to have happened at about 9:34 p.m. Wednesday, night.
According to a Facebook by the Wiley School District, “it has canceled classes and activities for the day following the deaths. Grief counselors and staff members are available at the school anytime throughout the day for families, students and staff.”
