Georgia high school basketball player dies during game

Georgia High School Basketball Player Died During Game –  O’Jaryn “O.J.” Reese, a rising senior for the Blue Devils, died after passing out and collapsing during an AAU game in the Atlanta area.

According to Josh Aubrey of the Statesboro Herald, Reese was playing on an AAU team with three other members of the Statesboro High basketball team. The young men were competing in a tournament in Suwanee, about 30 miles from Atlanta.

“Statesboro High School is shocked and saddened by the news of O.J.’s passing,” said Statesboro High Athletic Director Patrick Hill. “Our thoughts and prayers are with O.J.’s family in this difficult time.”

The death is the latest blow to the Blue Devil basketball program. Longtime head coach Lee Hill remains in East Georgia Regional Medical Center recovering from COVID-19.
