’m at a loss. No words. I’ve been part of two big families with Grant Imahara over the last 22 years. Grant was a truly brilliant engineer, artist and performer, but also just such a generous, easygoing, and gentle PERSON. Working with Grant was so much fun. I’ll miss my friend.
— Adam Savage (@donttrythis) July 14, 2020
From being a kid, to my early teens, until way into my late teens, Grant Imahara sparked my interest in technology and robotics. And I’m really sure a lot of people in their late 20s feel the same.
He influenced a whole generation. And we’ll miss him dearly.

Huge, huge fan of Grant Imahara. So very sorry for your loss. It sounds like Grant was a wonderful soul, just as he seemed on television. He is one with the stars now. Condolences to Grant’s family.

Just heard the terrible news about @grantimahara I am so shocked and sad. I will be forever grateful to him for designing, building and maintaining Geoff Peterson. Adieu pal. pic.twitter.com/NVOWKUij47

Just realizing that aside from his amazing contributions to Mythbusters, Grant Imahara was also the one who created Geoff Peterson, the skeleton, in Craig Ferguson’s late show.
This hits home… Rest in peace, Grant.— Julia Handschin (aka Jayhan) (@JayhanOfficial) July 14, 2020

Sorry, I know that wasn’t related to the site, HD, 4K, or such but the late Grant Imahara helped influence the design via models some of the films you’ve probably watched on those formats with his work at @ILMVFX via 1997 through 2005. He will be truly missed. Very sad to hear…

I do not know the circumstances of Grant Imahara’s death, but he always seemed to be very level-headed regarding risks. Willing to modify the work because safety was more important than the goal. Things like the Dublin, CA cannonball still happened, but that was not the norm.

Not usually the kind of person who gets hit by news of a celebrity passing. But Grant Imahara was such a big portion of my childhood, and to hear he passed on gave me kick in the gut.
Some people you just hope live forever.Rest in peace, Grant.

Devastated by the news of Grant Imahara’s death. I met him once years ago about is work at ILM among other things and his absolute love of the world of robotics, and later on television he was able to show millions of people that he could build just about anything.

I haven’t really expressed this with a lot of people, but Grant Imahara is the one of the only reasons I’m studying engineering, and quite possibly one of the only reasons I was able to finish my HSC. It was a dream to one day meet him and possibly build something together. RIP

RIP Grant Imahara. Mythbusters was a huge part of my life and inspiration to pursue mechanical engineering in schooling. Though my interests shifted and I abandoned the field, I am still fascinated by all things engineering and Grant was largely responsible for that passion.

Years ago I had the opportunity to (briefly) meet #GrantImahara at an expo.
Those events are fast-paced and it’s difficult to connect with the media guests.
Even so, he was incredibly kind & radiated light. He was so present in the moment.
All my love to his friends and family pic.twitter.com/gtQAaiccV6

Wow this is horrible. Grant Imahara was a huge inspiration to me as a kid to just keep building things until they worked. I would never have loved science and engineering so much if it weren’t for him.

I am saddened and shocked. @grantimahara was someone I loved watching on TV, then got to work with him & loved him as a human being. This just shows us how fragile life is. May he Rest In Peace and blessings the angels with science and laughter! We love you Grant.
