Gunther Kaschlun Death | Gunther Kaschlun Obituary – Gunther Kaschlun a German Rower has died at the age of 85. In 1951, he began his exemplary career in rowing in competitive sports at the age of 16. After one year, he became the eighth German youth champion for the rowing team of the ETUF. He represented Germany in the men’s Coxless Fours at the 1956 Melbourne Summer Games but missed the finals in a four-man without a helmsman only due to adverse external circumstances. Kaschlun’s talent and diligence in training were rewarded a year later with the gold medal at the European Championships, at that time the highest international rowing competition, in Duisburg.
According to DRV, Gunther Kaschlun was an impressive example of how competitive athletes can use their experience to serve sport after their careers. For him, the (rowing) sport was not just training, competition and medals, but a lifelong inner obligation and education.
