Illya Copeland Death – The Industrial Authority of Murray County is in a mourning state after loosing their executive director, Illya Copeland, 48, to death on Friday, after a fatal crash on Fort Mountain.
Copeland died in a single-vehicle crash on Friday after wrecking his motorcycle. He has been the director on industrial development since 2017.
According to Murray County Commissioner, Greg Hogan: “He is going to be missed. Illya did a lot of good things for Murray County.”
“Illya tried to help everybody, he volunteered for about everything. He was a good guy,” says Hogan.
Copeland also served with other organizations such as; Chamber of Commerce where he volunteered to take on the role of director an interim basis before the chamber board hired current president and CEO, Nicole Densmore.
