Tributes To Jeff Molishus
Ted Westervelt Jr : Such Sad news to report . One of our soccer alumni Jeffrey Molishus suddenly passed away this weekend . Our thoughts and prayers to his family . Please read below a tribute to Jeff from Mr Todt. It’s with tremendous sadness that we mourn the loss of one of our great players, Jeff Molishus. Jeff was the role model of the commitment to excellence both as an integral part of the Ryan Soccer dynasty of the 80’s and also as a perfect example of the student-athlete. His drive to be a dominant sweeper back in the era of so many other great players showed his belief in his development as a player on the field and his excellence in the classroom. I will always remember his phenomenal 40 yard goal that led us to victory over Judge in the playoffs and to our eventual PCL championship that year. Jeff continued to develop as a great player for Temple University and his success as a husband and father might be his greatest achievement. All of us in the Ryan Soccer family are blessed to have known and played with him and out lives are better with him as a part of our wonderful history and memories.Coach George Todt.
Wanting to post something this morning to keep with our promise of 3 a day however, a saying , or a cute picture or even a picture of fireworks or a sun set just does not feel right following the last post about Jeff Molishus…..We started July with great news about Allan Rhodes and Dave DiRenzo’s optimism about their current and successful healthcare battles…… we asked everyone for prayers for Beth Scarpello and we celebrated the successful news of Joe Savaiano’s triumphant journey to remission.Yesterday we shared the sobering loss of Jeff and the chilling picture that he posted just hours before he passed stating he was Thankful and Blessed……I have many Protestant friends and often attend their services and one of their favorite songs they belt out isIt is well with my soul……..and as I have searched for a lesson in these first 5 days ofJuly, I see the power of positive expectations from Allan, David and Joe and I see Faith exercised in Beth’s family’s request for prayers and in Jeff I see a lesson……He reminded us to be thankful as he posted pictures of the beach saying how wonderful it was and he showed us that…… All was well with his soul…… He said he felt Blessed and Thankful ……In the days, weeks and years ahead I am sure the soccer alumni will rally around Jeff’s family and in fact all of the alumni will ….. but in the meantime, I hope we can learn from Allan, David,Beth, Joe and Jeff…….Pray, Hope, Have Positive Faith and make sure …………..All is well with our Souls……..Thanks , Jeff….I promise to learn from your wonderful example and will ask myself everyday …..How’s my soul…..lesson taught. Lesson learned. God Speed.
It is with profound shock and sadness that we share the passing of Jeff Molishus (AR 88). Jeff was an incredible man and a gentle soul…….. Nick named Pookie……A Parkwood soccer player who enjoyed an outstanding soccer career at Ryan , he was part of the dynasty that won Catholic leagues titles 6 years running from 1983-1988 and scored a incredible goal to beat Father Judge in the semi finals propelling Ryan into yet another championship game.Jeff was also a proud member of the National Honor Society.Jeff went on to captain Temple’s men’s soccer team earning a degree and all conference recognition for athletics and academics.Yesterday he posted 2 pictures from the beach in Brigantine around 12 noon……one said its a beautiful day on the beach in Brigantine and the second is a picture of Jeff and his wife Jeanne Molishus and he added……. Thankful and Blessed……….sadly, Jeff passed hours later on the beach……he was one of the most humble and genuine men I have ever met..God Speed Jeff and God Bless Jeanne and his children..
