J’Marie Hernandez Death | J’Marie Hernandez Obituary – J’Marie Hernandez was killed in a tragic fire incident on Wednesday, 12th of August 2020 in Gage Park. The 4 year old girl died after a fire on the city’s South Side. Reports says, Fire crews responded around 4:15 a.m on Wednesday to the 5700 block of S. Washtenaw in the Gage Park neighborhood. J’Marie Hernadez was found unresponsive in a bedroom on the first-floor. Hernandez was transported to Holy Cross Hospital where she was confirmed dead.

According to WGN9, Fire fighters said there were no working smoke detectors in the room. They later went door to door handing them out along with safety information. A firefighter was injured and is recovering at a hospital. There were nine other people in the home, but no other injuries have been reported. Hernandez’s family said she was attending a sleepover with cousins. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
