Rehoboth Beach Victim Identity – The identity of the victim who died in a crash on Friday, July 3rd, 2020 at 6:10pm, on Old Landing Road in Rehoboth Beach has been identified by the Delaware State Police as Joan D. Erieg of Rehoboth Beach, an 86-year-old woman.
The fatal crash on Friday involved a 2011 Mazda 6, driven by the 86-year-old woman from Rehoboth Beach, who was said to be traveling westbound on Old Landing Road behind a 2010 Lexus RX350 operated by a 17-year-old Camden man, says the police.

Another vehicle traveling in front of the Lexus slowed to turn right into Fairway Village, which also caused the Lexus to slow down but the Joan’s vehicle, the Mazda 6, was following too closely and hit the rear of the Lexus within the westbound lane. After hitting the Lexus, Joan’s vehicle continued to travel to the west off the north edge of the roadway, where it struck a utility pole, says the police.
She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where she was confirmed dead.
The Lexus driver and his passenger were not harmed.
While the scene was investigated, the road was closed for an hour before cleared.
