Joanne Downey Death | Obituary – Joanne Downey age 50 from Killarney died two days after she was struck by a lorry while walking near a roundabout at the weekend. Downey died in Cork University Hospital on Sunday from the serious injuries she sustained.
Her three sons and three daughters are said to be absolutely devastated. Joanne was very involved in her local community as a healthcare worker and was an active member of Legion GAA.
She volunteered to cook for the senior players after training and would was honoured by the club with an achievement award for outstanding service five years ago.
The horrific accident happened at the Cleeney Roundabout on the N22 Killarney to Cork bypass last Friday morning.
Gardai are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of the Cleeney Roundabout at around 8.30 am on Friday and particularly any road user with cam footage to contact them at Killarney Garda Station.
