John Wegner, an Australian Heldenbaritone has passed away. He died November, 2019 after a long battle with an ailment which he was diagnosed with in 2014.
Wegner, a multiple Helpmann Award winner was known for his stage of commitment and psychological insight.

Earlier 2014, Wegner was diagnosed with Parkinson’s which he had battle for over half a decade. Eventually, he took a rest from the deadly disease.

He had an extremely successful career in Europe as well as in Australia. He was also one of the loveliest people you could ever meet. A wonderful colleague and a real ‘Mensch’. On behalf of everyone at Opera Australia I send my deepest condolences to his wife, Mignon and to his immediate family.”
