John Word death & obituary: A shooting incident has occurred involving a 25-year-old Word at the O’Reilly Auto Parts Store at 5322 Asher Avenue, after which the shooter immediately surrendered himself to the police.
According to the shooter a 25-year-old Cortez Kendrick mentioned the deceased made an attempt to steal from the Kendrick’s brother which led to the shooting.
After which the Cortez and his brother rode in different vehicles leaving the scene. John was found in the car belonging to Kendrick’s brother, which was parked behind the Pic-Pac Liquor Store, located at 4407 W. 12th Street.
Attempts were made to help 21-year-old John but all proved abortive and he was declared dead on the scene.
Police has stated that no charge on homicide has been made pending the conclusion of the investigation
