Jose Bonilla Death – The police has released the identity of the Monday night’s homicide victim in the downtown are as 43-year-old Jose Bonilla, of Holyoke.
According to spokesman for Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni, James Leydon, about 9:45 p.m, they responded to a report of a shooting near 56 Suffolk Street, which is next to the School Department offices and near the intersection of High Street. They found a man suffering from gun shot wound upon arrival.

Bonilla was rushed to Baystate Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead, says Leydon.
The investigation of this homicide is being handled by the Holyoke Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office’s Murder Unit, says Leydon.
This is recorded as the 3rd homicide in Holyoke this year.
Holyoke Police Chief Manny Febo and Gulluni extend their sympathies to the bereaved family.
Mayor Alex B. Morse also extended his sympathy to Bonilla’s family members, saying he was informed of the homicide on Tuesday.
