Meat processing and abattoirs have been deemed “high risk” sectors under Victoria’s Stage 4 restrictions, with poultry production slashed to 80 per cent of full operational capacity.

According to Premier Daniel Andrews while acknowledging the challenges restrictions pose for supply, says they are a necessary evil.

“No one enjoys having to wind back activity in any part of the economy and no one enjoys putting timelines off, but if we are going to drive down these numbers that we have got to limit the activity that is going on,” says Daniel.

Overnight, Victoria recorded 322 new coronavirus cases, bringing the state’s total to 14,957.
