Leah J. Yoder Death – On Thursday night, July 16, 2020, an Amish woman identified by the police as 51-year-old Leah J. Yoder drowned in a private pond while trying to get a fishing line from the pond.
Yoder was fishing with her 6-year-old niece at the pond when the incident occurred, says the police.

The 6-year-old girl ran off for help and returned with a horseman, but unfortunately Yoder was found face down in the water.
She was later pronounced dead at the scene.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., deputies and first responders from the Antrim Community Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the rural scene near Sligo and Sugartree roads after a caller reported they were unable to find a female, later identified as Yoder, in a pond, says the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office.
When officials arrived, Antrim Fire Chief Donald Warnock and deputies Sgt. Shane Leggett and Dep. Cory May located Yoder in the water. While Leggett retrieved a rope, Warnock reportedly jumped into the pond and swam back to the shore with an unresponsive Yoder.
CPR was administered once Yoder was on the bank by Warnock and she was transferred to an ambulance from the Antrim department a short time later.
A MedFlight medical helicopter was requested, but was later canceled after medical personnel pronounced Yoder dead.
It was reported that there are no signs of foul play by the detective from the sheriff’s office
Yoder’s body was then taken to a local funeral home.
According to the deputies report, the young girl told her family Yoder had entered the water to retrieve the fishing line when she began splashing around, she ran to get help. The Amish male who returned on horseback told deputies he observed Yoder face-down in the water and returned to a home on Sligo Road to call 911.
The 6-year-old girl was not injured during the incident.
