Longtime Toei Producer Susumu Yoshikawa Passed Away – Susumu Yoshikawa passed away at the age of 84 last Friday, July 10th at 6 am due to respiratory failure.

Yoshikawa passed away at his home in Kamakura, Kanagawa last Friday, July 10th at 6 am due to respiratory failure. His family will hold a private funeral.

Known as one of the founding fathers of the Super Sentai and Metal Hero franchises, the first tokusatsu series he worked on was Android Kikaider. In the franchises that he founded, he worked on the following Super Sentai shows, namely: Goranger, JAKQ, Battle Fever J, Denziman, Kakuranger, and Ohranger. In the Metal Hero side, he produced: Gavan, Sharivan, Shaider, Juspion, Spielvan, Metalder, Jiraiya, and Jiban.

Outside of these two franchises, he also worked on Toei’s Spider-Man, Kamen Rider BLACK, Kamen Rider BLACK RX, the first half of Nebula Mask Machineman, Armored Fleet Dairugger XV, and his final series, Choukou Senshi Changéríon.
