Dear Members,
It is with great sadness that I inform you of the tragic loss of our Premier League player, Luke Gardoni. Taken too soon, this is a sobering reminder of how fleeting life can be.
Please see the statement below. With respect to the Gardoni family and in memory of Luke’s love of life and football, we ask that senior teams across our club observe a one minute silence prior to game kick-off, and we encourage all club members to symbolise this tragedy by wearing a black armband during this weeks round. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gardoni family at this most difficult time.Marc VujnovichPresident—-Vale Luke GardoniOn Saturday 15th August, while representing the CHUFC Premier League, Luke suffered a devastating cardiac arrest. Luke was treated on-field by no less than 6 paramedics, supported by NSW Police. The efforts of those who assisted on scene was outstanding and will be forever admired. After a long-fought battle in hospital, on Thursday 20th August, Luke passed away surrounded by his adoring family. Luke was 21 years old.Luke’s football career started in 2004 at Castle Hill United, where he continued to play until 2009. In 2020, he returned to CHUFC to play with some of his long-time football mates. Quietly spoken, with a reserved nature, Luke was quick to ignite friendships, and very quickly became a highly valued member of the squad. We will be forever honoured that we played a part in his football career, at the very start, and at the very end.Our thoughts and condolences are with Luke’s parents Andrew and Michelle, sister Alicia and brother Aaron.

When I started University in 2017, in my first ever class I sat with Mitch Townsend ,Linden Williamson ,Daniel Magee and Luke Gardoni. It was a semester of mucking around at the back of the class , being foolish first year students.
Today I grieve as last night I was informed by a mutual contact about the sudden death of Luke, who suffered a cardiac arrest playinglast weekend – a sport we love and talked about in class often in first year; and sadly Luke passed last night.
Luke was genuinely one of the nicest kids I’ve ever met (and I’m not just saying that). He wouldn’t hurt a fly, and I can tell you right now that another class I had with Luke (STAT150) I barely passed and the only reason I passed is because Luke helped me understand the content and helped me with the quizzes. I scrapped through with a solid Pass and if it wasn’t for Luke’s generous help, I wouldn’t of passed the unit.21 is way too young to go, and it just shows that it can happen to anyone. I’ve lost friends and family prematurely before, and sadly – it will happen again. And it can be you, me, anyone. Nothing is guaranteed except your own demise- look after your loved ones, give them love, and appreciate every single day you get on this earth!I struggled with my own mortality during my Europe trip and have actively been trying to enjoy every single moment more. If we haven’t spoken in awhile, message me! Don’t be afraid – life is shortRest In Peace Luke Gardoni, despite only making up a brief portion of my life, you made an impact
