With a heavy heart we would like you to know about Luke Weiland’s passing. He is a former Kessel player. He was full of joy and ALWAYS brought smiles to our faces. He brightened every room and basketball court he stepped into. He was first a player then a coach for us. We will miss him so much. His parents have started a scholarship program in his name, to allow kids to have the same experience he had with Kessel basketball. Since I received the call from Cole letting us know Luke Weiland was gone last week I was not sure what to say. First is thoughts & prayers for his family and all of his friends during this difficult time. Be there for each other. My personal favorite thing about Luke was when you were around him you were going to either laugh or just shake your head. You would never know what he might say or do next, no matter what you ended up smiling. All that needs to be said is Luke was…A great friend to many from Oak Grove to Libertyville High School to University of NebraskaA fantastic teammate to all A loyal fraternity brother to all the UNL Delts A wonderful son Bottom line Luke was a wonderful respectful young man who is gone much too soon, a bright light bringing smiles to all. Luke will certainly live on through all the friends who will carry on his joy for life through many great memories. Rest in Peace Luke, The Mayor, The Godfather…
