Remember after the ‘86 GF, John Elliott when asked about losing the GF said, “Don’t worry…next year we’ll have Mark Naley.” And he was right. There a short time but a legend.

Never forgotten Mark Naley not only for kicking 4 goals for SA in the second quarter of the 1987 State of Origin at Football Park, but also playing in long sleeve jumper in 30 degrees temperature at the 1987 grand final.

Such a sad week. Mark Naley fought bravely as he always did but succumbed to an insidious disease. A terrific player – at his best with the Panthers, great at Carlton and always sensational in state games. And Chris Hunt, a name steeped in the history of the Glenelg FC. Vale

Sad news indeed. Even though I am a Westies and Essendon fan, I grew up watching Naley and others in both the SANFL and the old VFL and always admired him as a player, especially when he was representing South Australia.
RIP Mark Naley.

Brilliant rover. Srsly great player. Probably got overlooked a bit there in the mid-80s with all the hype around Kernahan, Bradley, Platten, Motley & co.
So glad he got that richly deserved Magarey when he came back to South in ’91… #RIPMarkNaley pic.twitter.com/gm9R7YE5FU
