Markeylan Edmond Death – The identity of the homicide victim of Wednesday morning, August 12 on S.Refinery Street has been released by the Lafayette police as 20-year-old Markeylan Edmond, of Lafayette.
According to official report, the police responded to the 100 Block of S. Refinery Street after receiving the report of a man found lying in the roadway.

When the police arrived the scene, they found Edmond already dead.
A man who was identified as the suspect, a 42-year-old Johnathan Bargeman of Lafayette and was on the scene when officers arrived was taken to the police department for interview by investigators.
Preliminary investigation revealed that an altercation broke out between Edmond and Bargeman which later erupted into violence before Bargeman shot Edmond with a handgun to his torso.
According to the official report, Bargeman was arrested and booked on charges of 2nd Degree Murder and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. He was transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
The investigation is ongoing say the police.
