Racecourse Death – Following an incident that occurred this morning, Tuesday, 30th June, an investigation has been initiated.
The police and paramedics were called to St George’s Avenue about 10:50am on the report of a man who had been gravely assaulted.

The man whose identity is still not known unfortunately passed on a short time after the assault.
The East Midlands Specials Operations Unit Major Crime Team who are in charge of the investigation are appealing to any individual with useful information about the assault to contact them.
Detective Inspector Pete Long, the officer in charge of the investigation said: “We are in the very early stages of this investigation and anyone with any information about what may have happened here is asked to come forward, no matter how small or insignificant you think your information might be.”
The avenue is currently closed. Although patrols are taking place to reassure the local community, motorist and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area for the moment.
