Philip Gray And Mark Gray Death – The Coos County Sheriff’s Office have confirmed and released the identity of  two brothers who drowned to death at the North Tenmile Lake on Sunday, August 16 as Philip Gray, 67, and his brother Mark Gray, 51.

According to the police report, the brothers were at the lake with a friend of theirs when Mark was kayaking. He rolled his kayak about 50 feet from shore and was unable to get back on the kayak or make it to shore, says the police.

At the time of this incident, Mark was not wearing his life jacket, says the police.

Upon hearing Mark cry for help, his brother Philip jumped in to rescue him, according to the police.

The men were later rescued by law enforcement officers, Lakeside Fire volunteers and bystanders. CPR was performed on them but they later died.

Todd Borton, a friend of Philip who was with them at the time of the incident said he is still in shock over the accident. He said Philip and his brother spent a lot of time on the lake bonding.

“I thought, no way,” said Borton.

“They’re kayakers and canoers, they know how to swim fairly well, so I was very surprised.”

Borton says he believed Philip died as a hero.

“I’d like to think that’s what brothers do, let alone friends,” Says Borton

The police further said that alcohol or any intoxicant is not determined as a factor but that the incident was an accident.
