The family of Robbie Diaz is mourning as he passes away after a lifelong battle with an incredibly rare disease. The family believes isolation from the COVID crisis was one of the reasons he died. According to news release, Robbie Diaz lived his whole life suffering from a thyroid condition known as Rapid-onset obesity with hypothalamic dysregulation, hypoventilation, and autonomic dysregulation (ROHHAD.) The condition forced Robbie to uncontrollably gain weight.
NewsS4SA says whenever Robbie Diaz would go to the hospital for treatment for one of his many ailments, he always had his family at his side until the COVID-19 crisis made that impossible. He never caught coronavirus, but his mother believes the loss of personal connection in the hospital is one of the reasons why Robbie passed away. Robbie died four days before his 24th birthday.
