Russell Kirsch Death | Russell Kirsch Obituary – The inventor of the pixel and creator of the first digital photograph, Russell Kirsch, has passed away. Russell A. Kirsch was a computer scientist who invented the pixel and an undisputed pioneer of digital imaging.
He died on Tuesday, 11th of August 2020 in his Portland home from complications arising from a form of Alzheimer’s disease. Russell Kirsch passed away at the age of 91. The 172 x 172 pixel image of his son Walden which he created in 1957 and is now iconic was named one of Life magazine’s “100 Photographs That Changed the World” in 2003.
