Reactions And Sharing On Ruth Morrissey’s Death
All too often, as seen with the tragedy suffered by Ruth Morrissey and her family, resorting to draining, dehumanising legal bureaucracy, rather than apologising and making a genuine effort to address an acknowledged failing, is the default position when it comes to negligence.

#ruthmorrissey death. All the false sympathy from Gov figures following Ruth’s say death doesn’t hide that the states negligence was the cause and that state advisors and ministers, both legal and medical should hang their heads in shame. What total hypocrites they are?

R.I.P Ruth Morrissey .Varadkar is the most cynical and shameless narcissist ever in Irish politics , and that’s saying something . His grievous lies about women not being dragged through the courts should never be forgotten and no woman should ever give him a vote again .

Ruth Morrissey RIP.
In 2019 I facilitated ‘Sort Our Smears’ Campaign. A Community Artivism Project so the women in Ireland could create artwork that resulted in this Mandala, exhibited at Rua Red Arts Centre, giving them a voice in Cervical Smear Scandal pic.twitter.com/jLCUVdGQBf— Barbara O’Meara (@BarbaraOMearART) July 20, 2020
A few years ago when I was 1st diagnosed I remember Vardakar saying “the state will no longer drag #CervicalCheck women through the courts “….yet they fought poor Ruth Morrissey all the way to the Supreme Court ??let down at every angle may she Rest In Peace ??

Rest in peace #ruthmorrissey
Despicable treatment! That poor woman dragged through the courts, her family let down by the same people who are being lauded for their work on Covid 19?#HSE #FineGael— Máirtin Flannery (@cyclingbhoy) July 20, 2020
To Ruth Morrissey & all the women who have been immensely failed by the State & HSE, to the family’s and loved ones that are left heartbroken, I am deeply sorry.
HSE nor the State have made any apology their negligent actions. #CervicalCheck #Ireland #women #cervicalcancer— Caithríona O’ Neill (@Caithriona_Ne) July 20, 2020
No matter the reasons there is sometime slimey about crocodile tears from a solicitor about appalling treatment of Ruth Morrissey. These parasites resist every&all effort to overhaul an adversial legal sector that they profit from. They made a handsome profit from this poor lady?

Piece about Ruth Morrissey’s death on #TodayRadioRTE and Varadkar and Gov will be very pleased indeed, monies and ads will keep flowing to bought media. Rather than points in family statement Sarah McInerney concentrates on how her guests are “feeling”, what she was like 1/2

This is the lovely Ruth Morrissey before she got cancer and was totally let down by the state !

Ruth Morrissey RIP. Another victim of the Cervical cancer smear test misdiagnosis scandal.
Tony Holohan the chief medical officer covered up the Cervical cancer fiasco on behalf of the blueshirt government.— Bernard A Kavanagh (@BernardAKavana3) July 20, 2020
Heartbroken for Ruth’s family and friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis. Ruth Morrissey was brave and kind to the end as she took on CervicalCheck battle

‘The trial put her into the hospice’ Ruth Morrissey’s solicitor quoting Vicky Phelan.
Many people don’t appreciate the level of stress caused by litigation. And then there are many who do, who fully understand the pressures experienced by citizens asserting thr rights @HSELive— Sue Gogan (@SueGogan) July 20, 2020
I can’t imagine the hurt caused to Ruth Morrissey’s family when Tony Holohan was given the freedom of Dublin City.
I was delighted to see her becoming Mayor but this kind of knee jerk populism suggests that Hazel Chu isn’t up to the job.

Our deepest condolences to the family of Ruth Morrissey, to her friends, and to her fellow cervical check campaigners.
We should never forget the great harm that was done to women in this country, by outsourcing their smear tests, and then withholding information from them
— People Before Profit (@pb4p) July 20, 2020
when it emerged that they had been given false negatives by the private US labs to which they had been outsourced.
Ruth Morrissey died without getting the apology she deserved from the state.

The Dáil’s business committee been asked (by @CathMurphyTD) to arrange a minute’s silence for Ruth Morrissey – which “should be preceded by a formal apology given that she not only fought and lost her battle with cervical cancer but she also fought the state and laboratories”
— Gavan Reilly (@gavreilly) July 20, 2020
Ruth Morrissey RIP.

Ruth Morrissey such a lovely tribute to a beautiful loving woman like so many other women never wanted to step out in the limelight or walk the corridors of the Four Courts but like many others had no choice RIP Gentle Soul

The insensitivity shown in that statement by @LeoVaradkar is not surprising. There are many owed an apology for a failed and rotten health service particularly under his watch as Minister for Health, Taoiseach and Táiniste. RIP Ruth Morrissey and thank you.

Listened earlier today to the interview on Pat Kenny Show with the Solicitor of Ruth Morrissey… so sad, so cruel and heartbreaking. Today her daugher Libby celebrates her 9th birthday. Thoughts are with her family. May Ruth rest in peace.

Perhaps you would like to also offer your condolences to the family of Ruth Morrissey. A just, fair and brave woman who lost her last days with her family holding your government to account.

I wanted to reflect overnight on the Tanaiste’s statement on the early death of Ms Ruth Morrissey. It was so insensitive and self-referential as to be unworthy of a former Taoiseach. My heart goes out to Ms Morrissy’s husband, daughter and family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sí.
— Réada Cronin TD (@ReadaCronin) July 20, 2020
god i still can’t believe ruth morrissey was only 39 when she died
and the state hasn’t apologized for their negligence that led to her death

But no,it was a useless empty promise.
Ruth Morrissey died yesterday. She was diagnosed 2014 but didn’t find out of grievous mistakes with her screening that would cost her her life until 2018. She was used as a test case for the final years of her life. She didn’t reach 40.— una dunphy (@unadunphy) July 20, 2020
