Santo Baez Death – The identity of the man who drowned in Irondequoit Bay on Sunday, August 2 has been released by the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office as 49-year-old Santo Baez, of Rochester, says the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The members of the agency’s SCUBA unit around 8 p.m. Sunday found Baez’s body.

Sgt. Matthew Bottone reports that Baez was found 40 feet under water.
According to Lt. Rick Bancroft report, a family had taken a pontoon boat onto the bay, anchored the vessel and went swimming near Glenwood Drive in Webster. Baez was overcome by “very rough” water, went under and did not resurface.
The incident was reported to the sheriff’s office around 2:10 p.m.
It was stated that other members also struggled in the water but were rescued by the people in the boat.
The search was conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard, West Webster Fire Department, New York State Police’s aviation unit and the state Department of Environmental Conservation police.
