Tributes To Sean Tyla

R.I.P. SEAN TYLA 1946 – 2020
Sad news announced yesterday that Sean Tyla has passed away. Pub-rock legend, songwriter, founder of bands ‘Ducks Deluxe’, ‘The Tyla Gang’ and ‘The Force’, Sean, a multi-instrumenalist,songwriter, and recording artist also enjoyed a prolific solo career. A good friend of Deke’s he and Sean played a lot together in the late 70s and 80s and kept in touch in latter years, musing over their various projects. Back in the day, Deke became a member of The Force releasing a single and album. The band appeared on several shows at the time – Top Of The Pops included! – with the single. (I believe there is footage somewhere on You Tube). Sean is survived by his beloved wife Jan, Sympathies to Jan and all those close to Sean. His legacy will live on. The music is great.
The heroes fall from. Just got word Sean Tyla left the earth. Without him I would be someone else. I learned to play guitar to Yahtless and at the same time discovered wonderful Ducks Deluxe backwards. In addition, he played frequently in Malmö for the last 15 years. The craziest gig I saw him must have been the one in Urban’s living room with 20 people in the audience. I wished Don’t Turn Your Radio On as an encore and everyone sang along in the chorus choir. Now I listen to Yahtless and am grateful that life can be so good, even though sometimes it can feel unfairly short.
Rest in peace my dear friend SEAN TYLA, August 3, 1946 – May 17, 2020. Pubrock legend and leader of the bands Ducks Deluxe and Tyla Gang followed by a succesful solo career in Germany. Started to listen to your music in the late 70’s and was hooked for life. You left the music business 1985-2007 and I was there at the comeback at The 100 Club in London. Soon we became friends when you started touring in Sweden thanks to Micke Finell. Got to see you live in action 45 times and I was a fan, friend, tour manager, booking agent, personal manager and just enjoyed hanging around you, see the gigs and listen to all this fantastic stories on the road and from the road. You deserved to be happy and wealthy the last years of your life, but sadly this wasn’t the case. Thanks to Sean’s beloved wife Jan for keeping me informed those last six weeks. Thanks to all the fans who came to the gigs and all the great musicians who stood by your side on stage.
