Margolis passed away Tuesday, June 9th, 2020. The cause of death has not said but report by Miamiherald said, “she died peacefully of natural causes.

Gwen Margolis was the first female to lead the male-dominated state Senate. She served a total of 30 years in the state Legislature, over three different stretches that began in 1974 and ended in 2016, when she decided not to seek another term.
