Shirley Jackson Death | Obituary– A woman who was found dead near Sissonville Drive and Chandler Drive Saturday night has been identified.
Charleston police said Shirley Jackson, 46, of Charleston, was driving a car along Sissonville Drive when she allegedly got out of her car at a red light and approached the car in front of her with a baseball bat.
During an altercation, Jackson “sustained trauma to her head,” according to a news release. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Jackson’s 5-year-old son was also in the car at the time of the incident.
Police said the driver of the vehicle, a man in his 20s or 30s, fled south on Sissonville Drive and then east on Washington Street West in a gray or light blue Nissan Altima or Maxima. He was wearing a white hat at the time, according to the news release.

Charleston police and Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a homicide near the intersection of Sissonville and Chandler drives.
A woman’s body was found about 10 p.m. Saturday along the road.
Sissonville Drive is closed while investigators collect evidence.
