Theresa A. Janis Death – The identity of the grandmother who was found shot to death in the backyard of an East Side home on Wednesday August 19 has been released by the St. Paul police as 61-year-old Theresa A. Janis.
The police responded to the 1100 block of Bush Avenue around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a call from a woman who said her mother had been shot in the head, says the police.

According to an emergency dispatcher, he relayed the report thus: “Caller found her mother, thinks she is dead. Unknown where the suspect is.”
When the officers arrived the scene, they found Janis unresponsive in the backyard. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to relatives who came to the scene and identified her, they said she lived in the home with her adult daughter and her grandchildren aged 3, 4 and 5.
Her son Tim said: “She was just an innocent victim.”
Janis’ death is recorded as the 21st homicide of the year in the capital city — and the second this week.
The investigation is still ongoing.
