Timothy A. Barnard Accident

Authorities identified the man that was involved in a vehicle accident early Saturday morning as Timothy A. Barnard, 29, in a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado located in the woods west of Baker Street.

According to Cpl. John Helfer of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the area of Savage Road and Baker Street in Churchville around 12:30 a.m. for a vehicle crash that was reported.

Helfer said Barnard failed to negotiate the 90-degree bend in the road where it turns into Baker Street.

“The vehicle left the roadway, sideswiped a tree, went airborne off the embankment, and struck another tree head on,” Helfer said. He added that speed and alcohol “appear to be contributing factors in the crash.” Charges are pending.

Barnard, who was the sole occupant in the truck, was trapped inside for about 30 minutes. Firefighters used a ladder to get down an embankment and were able to extricate him from the vehicle. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, including broken legs and arms.
