Timothy Rice Death – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have confirmed the death of a man who died after two vehicles collided with his motorcycle in north Charlotte Saturday afternoon, August 8. The man has been identified as 52-year-old Timothy Rice.
According to the official report, officers received a call at approximately 3.40 p.m on Sunset Road near Milhaven Lane.

Upon their arrival, they discovered that a truck traveling west on the road didn’t slow down and struck the rear of a car. The car then spun through the median and into the eastbound lanes, where a motorcyclist was traveling, says the officials.
Rice who was the motorcyclist was ejected from the motorbike.
At the time of the incident, Rice was not wearing a DOT-approved helmet, says the officials.
He was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The passengers in the car sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital as well.
The truck driver identified as 26-year-old James Brooks, was not injured.
Brooks was later charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to reduce speed after investigation.
The Sunset Road and Milhaven Lane were closed by the officers while investigation of the scene was ongoing.
Speed was determined to be a factor in the crash as Brooks was not impaired.
