Tom Brinkworth, South Australian pastoralist and one of Australia’s biggest landowners has died at his home near Kingston South Australia at age 83.
Tom often ran foul of environmental authorities for his land management practices and after buying the famed Uardry Merino stud near Hay, soon after controversially sold off the sheep and bloodlines. In 2014 he staged one of the biggest cattle drives in Australian history moving 18000 head of cattle from the Gulf of Carpentaria to Southern Australia using about ten driving teams. I gained one of the rare interviews he ever gave at his home (see pic above) though he gave little away and after five minutes concluded we’d exhausted all topics! I’ve posted an extract from the book I wrote with Andrew Chapman on The Long Paddock. R.I.P Tom

Sad day today a controversial individual named Tom Brinkworth is no longer with us. A minute of silence would be nice. RiP
